You’ll never become anything different until you see yourself for who you are.
1 Corinthians 15:10, But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
People will lie to you so they don’t hurt your feelings. Mirrors will lie to you because they don’t show the whole picture. Some doctors will lie to you to keep you coming back. A husband will tell a “white” lie to keep from getting into trouble. What am I talking about—weight. The one thing I know for sure that will tell you the truth about it is a picture. A picture reveals the real deal! It shows you all the blemishes, bulges, curves, the screaming buttons, and the stretches in your clothes. It’s good to see who we are and what we have become. It is then we can do something about it.
The greatest area of our life we need to look at is our standing before a thrice holy God. We need to see who we are in relation to Jesus. As we look into His Word, we see the whole picture of who we are. We are sinners in need of a Saviour. Jesus being the only one that could save us, willingly gave His life to do so. So, what does one do to be saved? We trust in the finished work of Jesus on the Cross. We trust He was buried and on the third day He arose from the grave conquering death, hell, and the grave. In doing so He gives us life and life more abundant!
Paul said, “But by the grace of God I am what I am.” What are you this morning? Do you know Him as your personal Saviour? Are you a Sinner saved by grace? Or are you just a sinner?
