A lady once came to Billy Sunday and tried to rationalize her angry outbursts. "There's nothing wrong with losing my temper," she said. "I blow up, and then it's all over."
"So does a shotgun," Sunday replied, "and look at the damage it leaves behind!"
Proverbs 16:32, He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
Three major causes of anger are: Fear, Frustration, Hurt/Pain
Fear coming from unknown lab results, job applications, unsettled relationships, etc. Frustration coming from- more month than money, co-workers, bosses, broken down vehicles, etc. Hurt or pain coming from former friends, family, etc.
How do we deal with anger?
1. Trust- Proverbs 3:5-7, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
2. Confess- Talk things over with those who you are frustrated with.
James 5:16, Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
3. Forgive- Ephesians 4:30-32, And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Hey friend, either you will be lords over your anger or your anger will rule your life! So, Anger Not!
