Choices

POOR CHOICES?

The meaning of life. The wasted years of life. The poor choices of life. God answers the mess of life with one word: 'grace.'

I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. Psalm 119:59

Life is built upon choices. Elimelech had a choice to make because of the famine in Israel but in choosing not to trust in God he ended up making three mistakes. The first, He chose to leave the promise land. The second, he chose to live in Moab. Finally, his family dwelt in the Land of Moab for ten years.

So often we make some poor choices in our life just like Elimelech. These poor choices are nothing more than the sin of NOT trusting in the Lord. After we make the first choice it is easier to stay right there in the sin this world has to offer. However, I am glad our life doesn’t have to end there. It says in Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Do you have a life that has been built upon poor choices? Have you disobeyed the Word of God and went another way? There is forgiveness! There is hope! Confess, Repent, and Ask God to help you change your direction!

YOU’RE ON A JOURNEY

Take a turn without God and it will be the worst mistake you will ever make!

And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. Luke 15:13

There is a poem I heard about several years ago written by Robert Frost, “The Road Not Taken.” Within the poem the traveler comes to a fork in the road and he has to make a decision to make. Will he go left or will he go right?

Friend, as you and I travel this road called life; we should not make any decisions on which way to go without the Lord guiding us! We should let the Lord have His way. When we don’t we find ourselves alone, broken, and eating the scraps from the world’s leftovers!

Will you let Him guide you? Or will you grinding husk with your teeth like the Prodigal Son?

BITTER OR BETTER…WHICH IS IT?

Life’s most difficult issues will either make you bitter or better, the choice is up to you!

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:31-32

You and I will either trust God in every issue that comes our way or we will deny that He orchestrated the circumstances we are currently in. Whatever the outcome, will make us either bitter toward Him or better. There are no other choices.

On one hand you can chose to be bitter; blaming everyone else for your problems, never taking responsibility over them, living a life of constant defeat. Or on the other hand you can chose to be better; understanding bad things do happen to “good” people, trusting the Lord through them, ending with a life of victory. The choice is yours!
