PONDERING THE WORD OF GOD

One of the most essential preparations for eternity is delight in praising God; a higher acquirement, I do think than even delight and devotedness in prayer. –Chalmers

Psalm 100- A Psalm of praise

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

The first time I came across Psalm 100, Sharon and I had taken a trip to Antigua to visit now retired Missionaries Benny and Judy Aldridge. The church that they started sang this Psalm in a little chorus and it has stuck with me ever since. Remembering the joy on their faces singing of our great Saviour brings a smile on my face and a joy in my heart!

Do you have a scripture in your heart that reminds you of a certain event in your life? Do you remember what was preached when you were saved? Maybe a scripture that brought you comfort when a loved one graduated to Heaven? The Word of God is rich and can make an awesome impact in your life forever!

IF YOU SLEEP ON WATCH, SOMEONE MAY END UP GOING TO HELL!

For Satan finds some mischief still for idle hands to do. –Watts

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8

That word vigilant has the meaning of being watchful or keeping an eye toward. It is to keep a look out for. It is to be on watch!

When I was in the Navy, we had 6 different watches over the course of 24 hrs. The one I most dreaded was the mid-watch. It was from 11:45pm until 3:45am. Boy, talk about ruining a night’s sleep—that would do it! But even so, we had to be on alert. Everyone had to do their part and keep the ship moving. If one person slept on watch, it put the whole ship’s company at risk.

Friend, who are you putting at risk by you sleeping on your watch? Is it your spouse? How about one of your children? What about a co-worker? While you’re asleep, someone may die and go to hell! Is it really worth the rest?
