GROW IN GOD’S GRACE

This law tells me how crooked I am.  Grace comes along and straightens me out. -D.L. Moody

Proverbs 22:6, Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from

Today we say, “Until we see you again.”, to our youngest daughter. We drop her off at college and we won’t be seeing her again until late November. It will be a little rough but not too bad for I am trusting the Lord to keep her and grow her in His grace.

I got up this morning with this thought on my mind, “Lord, you entrusted me with a little girl some 20-1/2 years ago to love, teach, and point her to you. I’ve not always been right in the rearing but I have always attempted to raise all my kids up to love and serve you. She is now a young lady, following You in faith, and therefore I will support her in her desires to please You.”

It is my prayer as I leave her over 2,000 miles away that she will take what she has learned, from a sinner such as I, and do what God wants her to do--to grow in God’s grace. Will you help me pray for her and for every student that is striving to be what God wants them to be?

GROW UP!

“If you have the Spirit without the Word, you blow up. If you have the Word without the Spirit, you dry up. If you have both the Word and the Spirit, you grow up.– Don Lyon

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: Ephesians 4:14-15

Do you ever wonder why people do what they do? Don Lyon hit the nail on the head with his quote. Some are attempting to live without the Word in their life. Some are trying to use the Word without the Author in their life. Either one of those are a huge issue when it comes to growing in God’s grace. The problem, you aren’t growing! Something that’s dead can’t grow and something that isn’t getting watered will eventually die.

Do you have Spirit? Do you have the Word? Good—Grow Up!

GO AND GROW

Either you’re growing or you’re dying.

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 1 Peter 2:2

What’s your desire for today? Will it be to GET UP, GET READY, and GO TO CHURCH? Or will it be to continue on with the status quo; mowing the yard, going fishing, washing the car, going grocery shopping, etc? Will any of those things help you grow in your relationship with Christ—probably not? Will any of those things help someone else come to the saving knowledge of Christ—probably not? If you’re not going to church you are probably drying up on the inside, eventually to blowout like an old worn out tire. So, why don’t you invest your time, talents, and treasures into something that will make a difference—GO TO CHURCH TODAY!

JUST A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE

Either you’re growing closer to the Lord or you have grown stagnant.

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18

Here are three ways to have a closer walk with the Lord; consider the Blessed Hope (Titus 2:11-14), crave the Blessed Book (2 Timothy 2:15), and call upon the Blessed Saviour (Hebrews 4:16).  Don’t starve yourself of the Word of God, saturate yourself with it!

Read, Grow, Share

One taper lights a thousand, yet shines as it has shone; and the humblest light may kindle one brighter than its own.—Butterworth

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16

Let me challenge you with three basic things you will be doing if you are a Christian:

1. You will read your Bible.

A constant reading of the Word of God will help you grow in the things of God. It will give you the Biblical foundation needed to survive in a sin stained world. It will help you discern right from wrong. And give you direction in your life. Psalm 119:105

2. You will be growing in Grace.

Your growth will depend directly on your attendance to Sunday School and your attendance to the preaching. Forsaking these two will be a sure fired way to insure you will not produce any fruit. 1 Peter 2:2

3. You will want to share the Gospel with a lost and dying world.

If you are saved then you will want others to know the truth as well. You will want them to know the peace that passes all understanding, the joy of having their sins washed away, and the joy of knowing hell will not be in their future but Heaven will be! 1 Peter 3:15
