LOOK TO THE LORD
Man was created with two eyes, so that with one he may see God's greatness, and with the other his own lowliness. -Samuel Y. Agnon
Simeon said in Luke 2:30, “For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,”
When you catch a glimpse of who Jesus is and what He has done, it could be the beginning of something wonderful. But many people have seen Jesus. Many people have heard Him speak through His Word. Many people have felt the tug of the Holy Spirt. But many people have ignored and rejected what they have seen. Oh that men, women, boys, and girls would see Jesus as their Lord and Saviour!
LIVE FOR JESUS
Make sure the thing you're living for is worth dying for. -Mayes
1 Peter 4:11, If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Many have forgotten the truth of dying to self. Instead, they are going about their day for self not giving a thought about the Saviour’s will for their life. This is why we see churches closing. This is why we see morals shriveling up. This is why we need divorce lawyers. This is why we have school resource officers. This is why we have curfews. This is why we have All Lives Matter, Black Lives Matter, etc. This is why Youth Detention Centers are overflowing. This is why we have abortion! This is why prison riots are on the rise. We could go on and on.
Peter was conveying the message, Live for Jesus! Live for Jesus in our home. Live for Jesus at work. Live for Jesus at school. Live for Jesus at college. Live for Jesus at the grocery store. Live for Jesus at church. Live for Jesus on vacation. HEY CHILD OF GOD, LIVE FOR JESUS NO MATTER WHERE GO YOU OR WHAT YOU DO!
IN DEATH I LIVE!
I have now concentrated all my prayers into one, and that one prayer is this, that I may die to self, and live wholly to him. –Spurgeon
I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. 1 Corinthians 15:31
Many men think living is having fast cars, big houses, and women. Many women think living is having a closet full of clothes, a man with a lot of money, and going out to eat at fancy restaurants. While they may live it up large on this side of eternity, I believe I’ll just trust in Jesus and live it up large for eternity!
Paul said, for me to live is Christ and to die is gain. Paul had an insight to living many Christians may never understand. He said, “If I die, I gain Heaven! I gain peace, joy, no tears, no sickness, and no death! I gain Jesus!” So Paul seeing how important it was to live for Christ said, “I die daily.”
Are you and I dying daily to self; Exalting the Saviour, Edifying the Saints, and Evangelizing the Sin Sick Sinner? If not… then we are missing what Paul meant by, Living for Jesus!
TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK…
Do not believe that you are standing still; you are not. Your pulses each moment beat the funeral marches to the tomb. You are chained to the chariot of rolling time. There is no bridling of the steeds or leaping from the chariot. –Spurgeon
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. James 4:14
Each time a family member, co-worker, or former classmate passes I am reminded of how short life is. With each tic of the clock, opportunities are passing before our lives; for some, the opportunity to be saved. For others, the opportunity to see someone else get saved! Whatever the opportunity you have before you today, do not be so naive thinking you have another day to waste. The clock is ticking and before you know it life will be over and it will be too late to be saved or see someone get saved!
