I HAVE A MESSAGE FROM THE LORD

The sermon will be better if you listen as a Christian rather than as a critic. -Construction Digest

1 Corinthians 1:18, For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

I pray more people would understand the importance of being in church. Going to church has a two-fold purpose; one is to evangelize the lost and the other is to edify the believer. Both are accomplished through the preaching of God’s Word.

You might not understand why the Lord places the importance on preaching. You might not appreciate the time spent on the message. You may not even want to be there. But let me tell you this, nothing takes the place of a good ‘ole Heaven sent message form the Lord! Have you ever heard one? You’ll know if you have because it will drive you to your knees in humble thankfulness of the One Who sent it!

What’s your message?

If there be any one point in which the Christian church ought to keep its fervor at a white heat, it is concerning missions.  If there be anything about which we cannot tolerate lukewarmness, it is in the matter of sending the gospel to a dying world. –Spurgeon

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30

When is the last time you told someone about the Lord Jesus? When is the last time you shared what He has done for you? Have you ever led someone to the Lord? You haven’t? Why not?

Don’t you know oh Christian you’re a sermon in shoes? Don’t you know oh Christian you are telling a story? Don’t you know oh Christian your works are telling a story about your Saviour? What’s the message you have told your children? What’s the message you have told your neighbor? What’s the message you have told your co-workers? What’s your message?

What are you listening to?

The sermon has dimensions-height, depth, and breadth.  The people who do the listening are sometimes painfully aware of a fourth dimension-length. -Brown

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Isaiah 40:3

Ah the sound of a Gospel Sermon is more than music to my ears! It gives me strength to face life’s toughest trials and truth that settles my heart! But in many pulpits the Gospel message has become nothing more than a good moral story. While that may make you feel all good inside, it will never get you to heaven! The only sermon we need to hear is the one that preaches about the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Nothing more, nothing less!
