BEHIND THE SCENES- CHARACTER

If I take care of my character, my reputation will take care of itself. –Moody

Proverbs 22:1, “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.”

What are we doing to keep our good name? Have we spent time with the Lord today? Are we investing in the lives of others? Are you attending a local Bible Believing church? What do we use to dictate what we believe? Is it culture? Is it our education or lack thereof?
Paul speaking to the Christians at Ephesus said to them in Ephesians 6:13, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

What you do behind the scenes is your true character. It will be manifested in your walk and talk, giving you your reputation. Paul speaks to Timothy and tells him this, 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” Can this be said of us?

YOU’RE REPUTATION PRECEDES YOU

If I take care of my character, my reputation will take care of itself. -Moody

Philippians 1:27, Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

What type of reputation do you have? What are you known for? What do people say about you when you are not around? I often wish I could be a bug on a wall just to hear what people say about me. But you know what? If we take care of our character, no matter what someone else may say, it will be okay between us and our Saviour. He knows our motives. He knows our character. He knows why we do what we do because our reputation precedes us. And that ought to be enough!

HOW’S THE VIEW OF YOU?

A good reputation is more valuable than money. -Publilius Syrus

Proverbs 10:7, The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

Actions speak louder than words! We can say we are going to pray for someone. We can say we are going to help a friend in their time of need. We can say this or that but talk is cheap! Our actions will be what people remember about us.

While I may fail you and you may fail me, we have a Saviour that will always be true to His Word! He is always faithful! He not only told the disciples what He was going to do, He did it! (Matthew 12:40)

Let us be doers of the words we speak in order to share the Good News of the Gospel with a lost and dying world!

A GOOD NAME

Protect your name; it will be all some people will ever know about you.

A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. Proverbs 22:1

In owning your own business, one of the most valuable things you can have is a good name. Your name will go before you into new ears in which could potentially become new customers. This good name will help your new business grow into a thriving competitor.

While making money is important, it’s not what is most important; a good name is! It comes by having the Good Saviour, reading His Word, and following it! It comes by serving Him! It comes by sacrifice! It comes by being faithful!

If you were to die this week, what would they say at your funeral about you?

I CAN'T TALK ABOUT MY FAITH BUT WILL OTHERS?

If I take care of my character, my reputation will take care of itself. -Moody

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. Romans 1:8

Do you talk the talk but don’t walk the walk? There are many of us that are just, “Key board Christians”. We set behind a screen typing away, sharing Christian pictures and quotes but never giving of our time, talents and treasures to the local church. Some of us head to church on Sunday morning leaving our Bibles at home. Some of us head to church on Easter or Christmas and claim we have done our Christian duty. As I have said before, being a Christian is twenty four seven. It’s not just on Sunday. Not just behind the pulpit. Not only on a foreign or domestic mission field, it’s every hour of every day, everywhere we go! Are people talking about your faith? Let those that come behind us find us faithful!

WHAT DOES YOUR REPUTATION LOOK LIKE?

The mark of a saint is not perfection, but consecration.  A saint is not a man without faults, but a man who has given himself without reserve to God. –W.T Richardson

Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. Psalm 37:37

A testimony or a reputation; they both describe a little bit of who we are. Let me give you an example, if we were to ask a co-worker to tell something about you, how would they describe you? What would stick out to them the most? Would it be, you are a good person? Would they say, you love God? Or would they say, you’re a gossiper, always late, never having anything positive to say. You see you’ve left your mark on them, a testimony, a reputation.

No, Child of God, we are not perfect but that in no way relieves us of the responsibility of the position we hold. We are ambassadors of the King of kings and Lord of lords. We represent Him and His way. How good of a mark have you left on the ones God has given you to be a witness to? What is your testimony and reputation before others? Or better yet, what does God know about your life?
