Speech

WORDS MATTER

Our speech is as important as our actions and many times our speech is more important.

Proverbs 10:19, In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

You know the Bible verse which says, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” Who we hang around, what we watch on TV or listen to on the radio, and what Apps we choose to play; will have a direct impact on the way we handle situations in our lives! We cannot be ruled by our emotions because our emotions will either bring us rewards or they will be our ruin! Your words matter in this life! Don’t let your emotions rule your tongue!

Child of God, if we are ruled by our emotions, we are not living by faith and it will lead to a ruined life!

HONOR THE LORD

It’s not about you, your family, your church, it’s all about Jesus!

Psalm 115:1, Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.

For a longtime I have attempted to convey this message about life that is so needed during these days. The message is a simple one of honor and respect, praise and glory, and pointing people to the One Who it’s all about. The message is about Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.

Is the message of honoring the Lord on display on our social media accounts? Is it displayed when you speak? Is it on display when respond to someone else’s post? Let me remind you of a verse found in Matthew 12:36, “… That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.”

THE BIG REVEAL

Does your life, lips and legs proclaim the Gospel of Christ?

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 10:33

You ever been riding down the road and dropped a call? Maybe you’re in the middle of your favorite TV show and bam the cable signal is lost. Connections are important to us these days! But I’m afraid the most important connection one can ever make is being neglected; being connected to the Lord Jesus.

Was there a time in your life you accepted/ received/ asked Christ to be your Saviour? Is that “connection” you made still having an impact on your life today? Do you proclaim His message of redemption, His methods of victorious a life, and His mannerisms of holy living? If not there is a disconnect or the connection was never there to start with. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 2 Peter 1:10

BE HONEST

Some people wonder why their children are such liars.  If they'd look into a mirror they'd probably see the reason. - D.L. Moody

Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. 1 Peter 2:12

One of the greatest sayings in the world is “Honesty is the best policy!” It is so true. I mean really, who likes, respects, or trusts a liar? Peter told the believers, Make sure your talk and walk is honest. Why? So when someone rises up against you their lies will be seen right through. Their lies will condemn themselves. That your testimony will honor and glorify the Saviour! Why? Because that is what we are suppose to do! It reminds me of 1 Corinthians 10:31, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE TO OTHERS?

Behavior is a mirror in which everyone shows his image. –Goethe

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. Matthew 12:34-35

A mirror reveals the truth about ones looks. Wrinkles, baggy eyes, chubby cheeks, and love handles can’t be thoroughly seen until viewed in a mirror.  But much more than any mirror the tongue and the actions of the heart speaks volumes as to what others see in your life.

What do you look like to others when times are tough at work? What do you look like to others when the bank account looks bleak? What do you look like to others when you say with your mouth you’re saved and going to Heaven but your actions don’t back it up?

TRUST IN THE LORD FRIEND! He will get you through what He has brought you to! You will help others when everything around you is falling apart but you are not!

WHY ARE YOU SO ANGRY?

Be not angry that you cannot make others as you wish them to be, since you cannot make yourself as you wish to be.  --Thomas a Kempis

He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated. Proverbs 14:17

Anger is a hindrance to the Child of God. It will get you off your game plan causing you to open your mouth and insert your feet!  If you constantly get angry over the least little thing, you need to get alone with God so He can work in your heart exposing the sin that keeps tripping you up. You need to confess and repent of the sin that is exposed, trusting He will help you never do it again.

IF YOU DON’T HAVE ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY, DON’T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!

There is no danger of developing eyestrain from looking on the bright side of things. –Anonymous

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. Proverbs 17:22

Pessimist or Optimist, which are you described as? One good way to tell is to look around you. Are there people wanting to be around you or do they flee from you? Do people call wanting you to come over or do you never get an invite?

Hey friend, People don’t want to be around someone who drags them down. Many things in life are a drag already, why would anyone want to be around someone who drags them down even further? Quit looking at the glass half empty and see the good graces of God in the glass half full! And, by all means, if you can’t find anything good, keep your mouth shut!

"Zip your mouth before something flies out!"

Those who have few things to attend to are great babblers; for the less men think, the more they talk. –Montesquieu

A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it! Proverbs 15:23

Have you ever been around that person that has an answer for everything…no matter what it is? You’re sitting there talking about something you know they know nothing about and guess what…low and behold- they do! Not really but they feel the need to have an input for everything!

I am reminded of a little line: “It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt”—Mark Twain
