Assurance

YOU GOT IT OR YOU DON’T

One is not working his way to salvation. Either he is saved or he is not, there is no in between.

1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

Is there any conviction in your life when you sin? When you have evil thoughts about someone is there anything inside you that perks up and tells you that you’re wrong for thinking that way? When you go a day or so without reading the Word of God is there a longing to get back to it? Do you have the testimony of the Holy Ghost of God in you? When you miss church, is there a longing to get back under the preaching of God’s Word? If there is no conviction—then His Spirit is not living within you—that means you are lost in your sin and trespasses. We are not in a process of salvation. Either you got it or you don’t.

JESUS IS MINE—FOREVER

"The Lord is my Shepherd," not was, not maybe, not will be.  "The Lord is my Shepherd"-is on Sunday, is on Monday, and is through every day of the week; is in January, is in December, and every month of the year; is at home, and is in China; is in peace, and is in war; in abundance and in poverty. -Taylor

Ephesians 2:8-9, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Praise God for the assurance of salvation! I am thankful we cannot lose it! We can’t do anything to lose it! Neither should we want to because we that are saved have a new nature! This nature was created by God when we believe Him! His Spirit came to live in us has changed our desires in this life! 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” If we are in Christ, we have Jesus forever!

Are you saved this morning? Do you have the assurance of your salvation? If you were wrong about your beliefs, would you want to know?

BE ASSURED

"The Lord is my Shepherd," not was, not maybe, not will be.  "The Lord is my Shepherd"-is on Sunday, is on Monday, and is through every day of the week; is in January, is in December, and every month of the year; is at home, and is in China; is in peace, and is in war; in abundance and in poverty. -Taylor

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. 1 John 3:19-20

Who is Jesus to you? If He is anything less than Lord and Saviour, you’ve missed who He is! You’ve missed the reason He came to the Earth. You’ve missed the peace He gives to all who repents and trust Him as Saviour! You’ve missed the fullness of the joy salvation brings!

Have you missed who Jesus is? GET UP, GET READY, and GO TO CHURCH this morning with this prayer on your mind, “Lord Jesus, show me who you are today!” If you go seeking Him, He will show you who He is, but you must respond!

I GOT IT, DO YOU?

Full assurance is not essential to salvation, but it is essential to satisfaction.  May you get it-may you get it at once.  May you never be satisfied to live without it. –Spurgeon

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30

Yes, I have the full assurance of my salvation. I cannot lose it for if I did, I did something to earn it. When Noah was in the ark he may have fallen down several times but he never fell out of the ark!

Do you have the full assurance of your salvation? If not, maybe you’re not saved at all…just something to consider!

Joy comes with Assurance!

Full assurance is not essential to salvation, but it is essential to satisfaction.  May you get it-may you get it at once.  May you never be satisfied to live without it. –Spurgeon

And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 1 John 1:4

A full assurance of your salvation brings about a full life of joy! That’s the problem with some Christians though, they don’t spend time in the Word getting the assurance they need to have joy in their soul! I’ve got joy like a river flowing in my soul—How about you?
