Failure

PRESS ON

(Failure is) not the falling down, but the staying down. -Pickford

Psalm 40:12, For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

The Psalmist David cries out in what seems to be his failure to escape the enemy. He cries out admitting his sin. He cries out of his weakness to the only One that can help. He cries out to the Lord! Why; because the Lord has delivered Him time and time again! And He will do it this time as well.

Friend, whatever you are going through, the Lord can get you through it. Turn to Him. Cry out to Him. Don’t give up, give in, or quit. PRESS ON! Read what David said just a few verses later: Psalm 40:17, But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

UTTER FAILURE!

With Jesus we have victory. Without Him there is utter failure.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

We can no more have victory over sin by ourselves than we can fly without something aiding in our flight. We have Jesus’ Words. We have Jesus’ work. We have Jesus’ willingness to forgive us when we fail on our own. We have everything we need to have victory over sin and yet we still fail day after day. I am so thankful for Jesus’ forgiveness. This is not a license to sin but it is recognizing that without Jesus Christ making the way for victory for us we are utterly doomed!

When is the last time you asked Jesus to forgive you of some sin you have done? Maybe it is the sin of being absent from church. Well, today would be a good day to GET UP, GET READY, and GO TO CHURCH! While you are there you can use the altar to ask Him to forgive you one more time so you will not be an utter failure!

HOW’S YOUR STANDING BEFORE GOD?

A righteous standing before God has always been by faith, through the shed blood of Jesus Christ without the works of the Law.—Dr. Bud Calvert

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6

If I asked you this question, “Are you going to Heaven or Hell?” what would your answer be? How would you know? What would you base your answer on? Would it be the way you feel? Would it be based on something your mother told you happened many years ago? Would it be based on a prayer you prayed? Would it be because it was written in a family Bible many years ago? How do you know where you will spend eternity? How is your standing before God?

Here is a simple answer for you… the Bible has the answer. It can be summed up by this one verse: “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1 John 5:13
