JUST ENOUGH

Doing just enough will only get you so far.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Many years ago, when I was in middle school, I did just enough to get by. I didn’t have anyone at home pushing me. I didn’t have many teachers pushing me. The friends I hung around with really didn’t care either. I did graduate but it was not with flying colors and I definitely wasn’t offered any academic scholarships. I finished but I didn’t finish well.

Friend, the Lord wants us to finish well. He wants us to fight the good fight of faith and has equipped us with everything we need to do so. Are you doing just enough? Coming to church to check it off. Reading a devotion to be able to tell others, “I do my devotions.” Are you really doing everything mightily unto the Lord or are you doing just enough?

COMMITTED

Be dogmatically true, obstinately holy, immovably honest, desperately kind, fixedly upright. -Spurgeon

Hebrews 13:5, Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

We never have to worry about the Lord being unfaithful to us because He has promised in His Word to never leave us nor forsake us. He will always be there in every turn we make in life. Even in the bad turns we make the Lord is there to help us clean up the mess we make.

On this Sunday morning, are you planning on going to church? Have you made up your mind nothing will keep you from attending the service, whether online, drive up, or in person? Or have you not decided yet? Here let me help… BE COMMITTED! GET UP, GET READY, and GO TO CHURCH!

COMPASSION IS MORE THAN WORDS!

If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? James 2:15-16

While I agree the greatest thing we can give anyone is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I also believe sometimes we need to sustain their life so they can have an opportunity to repent and ask Jesus to save them! An, “I’ll pray for you” will fill the heart with joy and bring comfort but if someone’s belly is empty it would probably be best if you and I give them a bag full of groceries!

If you have an opportunity to help someone out, don’t just say, “I’ll pray for you”, do whatever you’re able to do!
