SWEET MEMORIES

When saving for old age, be sure to put away a few pleasant thoughts. -Anonymous

Exodus 17:14, And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

Just the other day I was talking to a friend who was on vacation with his family. He was asking about different areas and I was suggesting for him to go here or there. The last thing I told him was, go make memories. My Aunt said it differently; she said, “We’re going to make Happy Tracks!”

The Lord told Moses to write the events down in a Book and tell it again and again. Why did the Lord want that done? So that no one would ever forget Who He is and what He did and can do for them.

Hey friend, go make some sweet memories but never forget what the Lord has done for you!

HOLIDAYS BRINGS GOOD MEMORIES

Grief drives men into habits of serious reflections, sharpens the understanding and softens the heart. -John Adams

Psalm 130:1, Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

When family centered holidays come by, my mind has a way of drifting back to days growing up or when my own kids were still at home. Mom was busy making chocolate pies. Getting ready to go hunting with Dad. My kids trying to sneak a peak of what Santa was bringing them or fighting over who got the egg beaters. Things are different now. My kids are grown. My Mom and Dad are gone. If we let it, the bitterness of loss can overwhelm us.

Child of God, rejoice in the time you had with your parents. Reminisce over memories with your kids. And when old Satan tries to get you into the mully-grubs, call out to your Heavenly Father and remind that old loser where he will spend eternity!

BE REFLECTING

Like a bird singing in the rain, let grateful memories survive in time of sorrow. –Stevenson

Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: 2 Timothy 2:8

Like a picture book of memories, when I view Facebook memories sometimes there is an emotional roller coaster. Some memories are awesome and then there are others I wished could be erased from the pages of history. These memories, although they hurt, are an important part of our life. The experiences where those memories come from help form who we are today.

Think of this for a moment. One story that provokes my memory is the message of the day Jesus was betrayed, beaten, bruised, hung on the Cross, pierced, died, and buried. It is not something I rejoice in talking about. However, it is the most important thing we can talk about. What I really like to talk about is what happened three days later when Jesus arose! You see, without the grave we would not have the Glorious Resurrection when Jesus defeated death, hell, and the grave for all who repent and trust Him as Saviour!

What will you be reflecting on this morning? Will it be the sad times of your past or will you see those as paths to the victories God has given you? The way your day goes may just hinge on how you see your past!

JUST ANOTHER DAY OFF???

How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Proverbs 6:9

I remember when I use to work at the Christian School, I had the pleasure of staying at home with my kids and we would play in the snow! When it was safe enough to drive on the roads I would load them up and we would head in to scrape the sidewalks, parking lots, and road leading into the school. After we got finished, it was on! We would tie boogie boards to the tractor and hit the practice field! Boy we had some fun!

Child of God, enjoy the time you have with your kids! Don’t lay in the bed all day. Get up! Get your kids up! Make memories that last. Even on your day off!
