Father's Day

HONORING MY DAD ON THIS FATHER’S DAY

“Dad. He can play like a kid, give advice like a friend, and protect like a bodyguard.” – Unknown

My Dad use to say, "Don't do as I do, do as I say do!" I am glad that, even though later in life, his philosophy changed. Why did it change? He accepted the Lord as Saviour. It went from that to-- "Trust in the Lord with thine own heart."

Before Dad went to Heaven we sat and talked one day. He had a lot of regrets in his life. Things he wished he had done, things he wished he had done differently, and things he wished he hadn't done at all. One thing he wished he had done earlier in life was giving his life to the Lord. He truly believed if he had done that, his life would've been different.

I learned a lot from my Dad as many of us have. How to work hard, to take care of family, to lend a helping hand to those in need, and most important; even when it looks as if everything is lost- to trust in the Saviour.

Today, I honor my Dad by taking my family to church, by worshiping our Heavenly father together, and by forgiving others when, in the world's eyes, they don't deserve to be forgiven. You see that's how my Heavenly Father loved me. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

Happy Father's Day!

One of the most important things a father can do for his children is to love their mother. -Theodore M. Hesburgh

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. Ephesians 5:25

The only way a husband will truly know how to love his wife is if He is saved and understands the love that Christ has given him. Think about this for a moment; the unrepentant church beat, ridiculed, mocked, spit upon, lied about, and eventually put Him on the Cross. But yet Jesus gave Himself for the church. Husbands, you want to be the best Dad in the world? Learn how to love your wife like Jesus loved the church…unconditionally!
