A SATURDAY WITH SHARON

Real true faith is man's weakness leaning on God's strength. -D.L. Moody

Isaiah 43:1-2, But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

I have learned that without Christ I am nothing. I cannot depend on people because people will always let me down. People will not always applaud or approve of me. People will not always support or encourage me. People will not always love me or even like me. Therefore, I must depend on Christ to do what he has called me to do—whatever that is and whenever that is. Different seasons of life bring different things that He calls me to do. Sometimes those things are easy and sometimes they are difficult. Regardless, whatever He has called me to, He is faithful to sustain me and see me through. The same goes for you. Wherever you are in life, whatever you’re current calling is, do it! Just don’t depend on anyone other than HIM or you’ll be disappointed! – This morning’s devotion is by my wife, Sharon O’Dell, child of God, mother of three, friend to many, teacher, editor in chief- 😊, and much- much more!

JUST LOVE YOUR SPOUSE!

Sometimes it’s hard to love your spouse—love them anyway!

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Colossians 3:18-19

Compared to sticking it out, it is easy to throw the towel in, give up, and get a divorce. What’s hard is sticking with the low down dirty dog of a husband. What’s hard is loving your wife as Christ loved the church. What’s hard is forgiving one another and growing in God’s grace together. I often wonder when I hear of a couple going through tough times if they’ve considered what if Jesus would’ve given up on them as quick as they give up on their spouse.

Hey Hubby, love her through it. Hey Wifey, love Him through it! When you do you will be showing one another a side of the Lord Jesus you have never experienced before!

Happy Father's Day!

One of the most important things a father can do for his children is to love their mother. -Theodore M. Hesburgh

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. Ephesians 5:25

The only way a husband will truly know how to love his wife is if He is saved and understands the love that Christ has given him. Think about this for a moment; the unrepentant church beat, ridiculed, mocked, spit upon, lied about, and eventually put Him on the Cross. But yet Jesus gave Himself for the church. Husbands, you want to be the best Dad in the world? Learn how to love your wife like Jesus loved the church…unconditionally!
