Hunger

I’M KIND OF HUNGRY

Why would anyone eat an onion, it has to be because they are just hungry!

Psalm 107:9, For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

I was reminded of one of God’s little creatures recently-the ant! It is a very persistent little fellow. In his hunger, he will do anything and everything to get full. If they find food in your house, not even the best exterminator can get rid of them! Their hunger drives them to overcome what ever is in their way.

Are you hungry for the things of God? Do you have the desire to read and study God’s Word, pray, attend church, and fellowship with other believers? I’m kind of hungry for the things of God, I hope you are too!

I’M THIRSTY FOR CHRISTMAS!!

Drink from the world’s well and be parched. Drink from the Living Waters God offers and never thirst again!

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6

In 2 Samuel 23, David longed for a drink of water from the well at Bethlehem. Three of David’s valiant men risked their lives to get David a drink. They broke through some of the Philistines and brought a drink to David. They risked their lives for Him but he would not drink it, but why not?

 Two thoughts here:

One; David did not want to send a message it was okay for the men to risk their lives for such a commodity. He didn’t want them to lose any men due to someone wanting something trivial as water from a certain well. He valued their lives more than a drink of water. While that sounds noble, it may be even a deeper thought here.

Secondly, maybe David wasn’t talking about physical water. Maybe he wanted the spiritual water from the Lord Jesus. You see Jesus was born in Bethlehem; The Living Well was given to all men. Everyone who drinks from this well will find that their thirst is quenched for all eternity, John 6:35 says, “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”

Are you thirsty for Christmas? If you are then GET UP, GET READY and GO TO CHURCH! Get filled up on His righteousness!

WHAT DO YOU HUNGER FOR?

Hunger for the right things will satisfy the soul!

For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Psalm 107:9

So many people go about life trying to fill their life with things rather filling their life with Jesus Christ. While they continually try to fill their empty heart with empty promises of pleasure, success, fame and fortune, the satisfied Christian rest in knowing they are saved and on the way to Heaven!

I am remind of Matthew 5:6 and the promise it contains; “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

Want to be filled? “Hunger and thirst after the things of God!

WHAT AND/OR WHO ARE YOU THIRSTY FOR?

Let’s get a thirst of selflessness—Russell Pruitt, Missionary to Montana

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6

Some people thirst after material wealth. Some people thirst after fame. But there are a few people that truly thirst after the things that matter—righteousness. We do that by dying to self and putting the Lord first in our lives!

Want to see what you’re thirsty for? See what consumes your time. Where do you use your talents? Look at where you are spending your money. It will reveal exactly how you quench your thirst!

I'm Hungry!

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6

Do you remember riding on a long trip telling your Mom and Dad, “I’m Hungry.” I remember their response, “Just a little longer and we will be there.” Boy that little longer was LONGER that what I wanted it to be!

From the day we are born we have had an appetite. We came forth crying wanting something to eat. Not much has changed. When we get hungry we start to cry out for something to fill our bellies with.

There is another appetite. This appetite can only be filled with the righteousness of God. Many try to fill it with sex, drugs, material wealth, fame, or fortune, only to come up still empty inside, constantly trying to fill the void.

Are you hungry? Why not partake of the good grace of God and be filled? The woman at the well of Samaria came to get water, she left full of the righteousness of God. Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. John 4:13-15
