Blessed

Are you an Eeyore or a Tigger?

Choose who you’ll be today…

Psalm 68:19, Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

Are you like Eeyore, wandering around all through the day, mumbling and complaining about any and everything that didn’t go like you think it should? Is your world absolutely falling already? Or are you like Tigger bouncing around considering all the blessings God provides for you each day? You say, “What blessings?”

How about God waking you up this morning? How about having electricity, hot water, clean clothes, food, a place to sleep, family, friends, church, your health, a job, the ability to obtain things you need and even want, etc, etc, etc?

The old saying goes, “Birds of a feather flock together“. If you don’t know which character you’re like, take a look at those people you hang around with and pay close attention to what comes out of their mouth. Then, you’ll know whether you’re an Eeyore or a Tigger.

LOOK WHAT GOD HAS DONE FOR YOU

Blessed is the man who is too busy to worry in the daytime and too sleepy to worry at night. -Anonymous

Psalm 103:1-2, Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

If we began right now thanking the Lord for all His has done for us, it would take the rest of eternity to thank Him! He has done so much and provided so much! He has done it all! It would do us all good this morning to stop for a moment and reflect on what God has done for us! Hey friend, He saved us, healed us, sanctified us, loved us, cares for us, and satisfies us! He does all that and so much more day after day!

BLESSED FROM ABOVE

The tongue blessing God without the heart is but a tinkling cymbal; the heart blessing God without the tongue is sweet but still music; both in concert make the harmony which fills and delights heaven and earth. --R. Venning

Ephesians 1:3, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Before any man, woman, boy, or girl can bless the Lord truly with their tongue, they must be blessed with the free gift of salvation. It is not an earned gift. It is not an obtained gift. It is a gift that is freely given when whosoever confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour!

Have you been blessed from above with the greatest gift of all? If not, ask Jesus to save you today!

CAN I BORROW SOME COMFORT?

Of all created comforts, God is the lender; you are the borrower, not the owner. -Rutherford

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

In all of the comforts God affords us we ought to give Him thanks. Thanks for the air we breathe. Thanks for the water we drink. Thanks for the Air Conditioning. Thanks for the cars we ride in. Thanks for the friends we have. Thanks, for the Word of God He has given. Thanks for the church to worship and pray. Thanks for the job He has given. We have a lot to be thankful for! If we ask for more comfort, according to God’s Word, He will give it!

THERE’S A CELEBRATION GOING ON RIGHT HERE!

An anniversary reminds us of simpler days but challenges us to keep our love fresh!

The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot. Proverbs 10:7

I remember the first date with my wife; I took her to Burger King. My thought then was, “If I didn’t like her I didn’t waste any money.” Our next date was to an upscale restaurant in which I dropped a wad of money on her. Oh yes, she is a keeper! Today we celebrate twenty eight years of compromise, hard work, and yes, love.

Life wasn’t always so grand. We have had financial struggles and marital situations but our love for one another has out-weighed any problem we have had. The driving force—the love of Jesus dwells in each one of us. We both want to please Him. We both want to hear Him say, “Well done!”

What’s your driving force in your marriage? Is it the beauty your wife has? Is it how financially sound your husband is? Is it a hot car, fancy house, or do they just put a smile on your face? If it’s not the love of Jesus it will fade out. Beauty is skin deep, finances wither away, cars give out, houses have to be cleaned, and a smile comes with the next pretty face. But Jesus compels us to go on so when we look back on life we can celebrate! We can give testimony—We have been blessed of the Lord!

I'm Hungry!

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6

Do you remember riding on a long trip telling your Mom and Dad, “I’m Hungry.” I remember their response, “Just a little longer and we will be there.” Boy that little longer was LONGER that what I wanted it to be!

From the day we are born we have had an appetite. We came forth crying wanting something to eat. Not much has changed. When we get hungry we start to cry out for something to fill our bellies with.

There is another appetite. This appetite can only be filled with the righteousness of God. Many try to fill it with sex, drugs, material wealth, fame, or fortune, only to come up still empty inside, constantly trying to fill the void.

Are you hungry? Why not partake of the good grace of God and be filled? The woman at the well of Samaria came to get water, she left full of the righteousness of God. Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. John 4:13-15

Bless the Lord- Oh Bless the Lord- Bless His holy Name!

The tongue blessing God without the heart is but a tinkling cymbal; the heart blessing God without the tongue is sweet but still music; both in concert make the harmony which fills and delights heaven and earth. --R. Venning

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Psalm 103:1

We truly have so much to thank the Lord for. We do not have enough time to thank Him for all He blesses us with this side of eternity. But should that stop us from trying? One person said, “Our thankfulness should be equal to our blessings.”

When is the last time you stopped and thanked the Lord for something He has blessed you with? Today would be a great day to do just that!
