Love of God

HIS BANNER OVER ME IS LOVE

He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. Song 2:4

Could we with ink the oceans fill and were the skies of parchment made and every stalk on earth quill and every man a scribe by trade, to write the love of God above would drain the oceans dry, nor could that scroll contain the whole though stretched from sky to sky. --Scribbled on an asylum wall and contained in the song “The Love of God”

I cannot comprehend the depth of God’s love to me. Why would He send His Only Begotten Son to die a sinner’s death to redeem such a worm as I is beyond my comprehension! But even though I do not comprehend it, I sure am thankful this morning! I hope you can rejoice with me as you think about what He did on the Cross and when He got up out of that grave! Saved! Redeemed! Justified! Sealed! Secured! All motivated by the love of God!

I CHOOSE TO FORGIVE

It is a man's peculiar duty to love even those who wrong him. –Antoninus

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32

By choosing to forgive those who have wronged you shows the love of God to that person and those familiar with the situation. It’s totally against the eye for an eye and tooth for tooth mentality. It’s sharing the Gospel in the most practical way and that is the greatest duty we have o n this Earth!— Come and see, Go and tell!

THANK YOU VETERAN—THANK YOU LORD

If you are enjoying your physical freedom today thank a veteran. If you are enjoying your spiritual freedom today thank the Lord Jesus. If you are having problems doing either---start counting your blessings.

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:7-8

It is an overwhelming thought a man would sacrifice his life for me to have the freedoms in this country that I take for granted. It’s even a greater thought; the God of the Universe, the Self-Sufficient One, the Creator, Sustainer, the Life Giver, would send His Son to die on the Cross for my sin.

Ever wonder why someone for give their life for their country—LOVE! The love of what their country stands for; Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

David said in Psalm 8:3-4, “When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” Why would God stop for one second and think about you or me? Because He Loved Us!

Why are you living?

Make sure the thing you're living for is worth dying for. –Mayes

One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4

Enough is said in the chorus of the song, “Because He Lives”:

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!.......What are you living for…is it worth dying for?

I Love to Tell the Story of Jesus and His Glory

The things that are closest to our hearts are the things we talk about, and if God is close to your heart, you will talk about Him. –Tozer

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 1 Peter 3:15

Just ask me….what are you waiting on? Go ahead…ask me about my chittlins. You see I’m always prepared to tell you about them. You see, I love them! And because I do I have a story ready to share about when they were growing up. Some funny and some not so funny.

Such it is when someone asks me about my Saviour. I am ready to give my testimony. About how Jesus saved me and set me on the Solid Rock! I am ready to give an answer to every man that asketh…amen! Are you ready?

Does my church love sinners the way Jesus does?

This was posted on a Bronx, New York, church bulletin board: "Do come in-Trespassers will be forgiven." –Anonymous

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; Ephesians 2:19

I am thankful on this Sunday morning the church I was attending when I got saved had a love for sinners! If not, I may not have ever come the second time. I may not have even ever gotten saved! I am also glad I pastor a church that loves sinners now. If it didn't, I would resign and leave.

How is your church doing in this area Pastor? Choir Leader? Choir Member? Sunday School Teacher? Church Member? Do we have the love of sinners as Christ did? If not, we need to do something about it!

Think about His love

Thou hast made us, O Lord, for Thyself and our heart shall find no rest till it rest in Thee. –Augustine

When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? Psalm 8:3-4

Do you ever sit and wonder why God would put up with us? Think about it, why would The Creator put up with selfish, self centered, unholy, wicked people? One word comes to my mind; love. And that my friend is something for us all to ponder on today….

The love of God is greater far

Than tongue or pen can ever tell

It goes beyond the highest star

And reaches to the lowest hell

The guilty pair, bowed down with care

God gave His Son to win

His erring child He reconciled

And pardoned from his sin

Could we with ink the ocean fill

And were the skies of parchment made

Were every stalk on earth a quill

And every man a scribe by trade

Victory in Jesus!

I often laugh at Satan, and there is nothing that makes him so angry as when I attack him to his face, and tell him that through God I am more than a match for him. –Spurgeon

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Romans 8:35

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Romans 8:37

O victory in Jesus,

My Savior, forever.

He sought me and bought me

With His redeeming blood;

He loved me ere I knew Him

And all my love is due Him,

He plunged me to victory,

Beneath the cleansing flood.

No matter what happens to this old body of mine, nothing will be able to separate me from the love of God because of the victory I have in Jesus! Do you have that victory?
